Within the Context of No Context

Watching television with my wife again tonight

in the grid of intimacy that is

our family room, although our family

is only us, sons in the world,

my Internet fingers uploading to the world.

I was rereading part of George Trow’s essay that was published in The New Yorker in 1980, which later became a book, Within the Context of No Context. It posited his views on the decline of American culture, brought about mostly by television. It seems dated reading it now.
