The Almanac

is full of Moons and celestial events,
the times to plant and to harvest.
I’m reading it as I sort seeds –
an optimistic ritual that shows a belief
that there is a future for us.

I have been a long-time reader of almanacs. My mother always bought one and I once read it as a kind of paper Nostradamus. I’m not as much a believer in predictions of any kind these days, but I admit to still looking at almanacs, the occasional horoscope, runes, tarot and forms of divination. I do believe that the future is not set. We can change it and therefore we should be conscious about doing that in the most positive ways.
